Each X-Pulse
unit in the field is controlled
by XPSC.The system is accessed
from a computer workstation
at the utility 's facility.
The XPSC is
a web hosted service that supports
multiple simultaneous users.
The system is hosted at a remote
high security data center and
employs Secure Sockets Layer
(SSL certificate -as used by
on-line banks) technology to
protect data submitted over
the Internet.
Once logged
on to the system the user will
have access to the customer
database that holds the details
of all the field units including
their location and switch status.
An instruction
can be sent to the X-Pulse unit
using the software 's command
wizards which guide the user
through the whole process.
Once a command
has been initiated by the user, the
software generates the appropriate
encoded message and sends it
to the communications network
over the Internet using a high
level communications protocol.The
message is then transmitted
over the network to the X-Pulse
field device for decoding and
action.
