The latest addition to BLP Components' highly successful PowerpulseTM range of solenoid-operated switches addresses the needs of lower-power applications - offering exciting new opportunities for manufacturers in the field of power metering and control.

The Series 30 PowerpulseTM, available as monostable and bistable versions, has a maximum switching capacity of 50 amps at up to 264 volts AC, providing a very competitive solution for appropriate power metering and control applications. Mains supplies within this lower power range are common in emerging markets. Prepayment is also a frequent feature in such markets and the PowerpulseTM design has amply demonstrated its reliability in prepayment and remote connect/disconnect applications throughout Europe, the USA and worldwide.

The Series 30 devices also open up new markets for PowerpulseTM in a variety of other areas such as ripple control receivers, time switches and lighting. BLP will work with manufacturers to develop solutions for any type of application.

Like all BLP's PowerpulseTM devices, the Series 30 switches offer extremely high levels of reliability and performance. They also have extremely modest operating power requirements, the Series 30 coil drawing as little as I watt in normal operation. The bistable version, employs BLP's advanced magnetic latching technology for zero current consumption in the quiescent state.

The new devices join their established cousins in BLP's PowerpulseTM range - the Series 32 and Series 36, along with the Series 39, which is currently under development. Series 32 devices provide up to 100 amp switching for European domestic and small commercial applications while Series 36 switches, with a continuous current capacity of 200 amps, are aimed at North American markets. The forthcoming Series 39 devices will provide triple-pole switching for three-phase supplies.

The higher-current PowerpulseTM devices employ BLP's patented 'blow-on' contact blade configuration, which ensures extremely reliable, positive contact and massive overload protection. The unique PowerpulseTM design also greatly reduces the force required from the contact actuator, greatly reducing the power required for the solenoid drive- magnetically-latched bistable operation is provided as standard. All PowerpulseTM switches are manufactured from material rated to the UL94-VO flammability standard.

Continual product development
BLP Components, a member of the Roxboro Group of companies, is committed to a policy of continual product development. The company's engineers work closely with customers to provide the right solution at the right price, whilst BLP's marketing department has proved itself adept at predicting future needs. It is this intense market interaction that enables BLP to provide its customers with appropriate switching solutions ahead of the competition. In common with the majority of BLP's products, all PowerpulseTM switches can readily be customised to particular applications.
